Main Objectives:
Population, Environment and Development Institute, India is formed for
1) Research activities on Population, Environment and Development, which could be undertaken by galaxy of qualified and experienced professionals, involved in the Institute.
2) Developing training and educational materials.
3) Coordinating and/or collaborating, which could be under taken by PEDI INDIA with, concerned agencies, public and private organizations.
4) Submitting recommendations based on action research for general policy formulations.
In essence, the aim of PEDI INDIA is to develop strategies to empower progress in the fields of population control, quality of life and environmental health related development projects through applied & action-oriented research as well as through the operations research.
The main motto of PEDI INDIA is to conduct studies of a high quality and work on a no-profit – no-loss basis.
Specific Objectives:
- To identify problems with the ongoing population control, environment and development projects.
- To develop research proposal for testing a suitable strategy to solve the specific problem and submitting the proposal to the funding agencies.
- To develop innovative ideas and formulate effective strategies for implementation.
- To promote learning and dissemination of information through publication, seminars, symposia, workshop and training courses.
- To maintain co-operation and liaison with National and International Organizations working in the areas of Population & Environment research.
- To make appropriate linkage and co-ordination at policy and programme levels of the concerned agencies such as state and central level Government Departments, NGO’s United Nations and its agencies and donor agencies: CIDA, SIDA, USAID etc.
- To develop a network primarily designed for collection and presentation of project for quick retrieval through computers and to establish necessary linkages with other international databases.
